We are stoked to share that we have just released the first Beta of Salt, Storm & Steel, VoidSea's Adventure Book!
We are super pleased with this first iteration of some true naval adventures to your table and we cannot wait to hear what all of you think!
In order to get access to the Salt, Storm & Steel (and any future) Beta, you first need to finish your Backerkit survey. Once your survey is finished, it must be locked: something we do once a week on Thursdays.
Once your order is locked and charged, you should already be able to access the Voidsea beta directly through Backerkit and this is where the Salt, Storm & Steel Beta is waiting for you! Make sure to log in to Backerkit using the same email as your Kickstarter account, then go to Your Pledges & Surveys > Your Surveys > Voidsea > Get My Digital Rewards. The betas will be there, waiting for you!
As previously mentioned, our writing team will be now turning to the last development phase of the second Beta of VoidSea and through utilizing all your valuable feedback, we aim to release the second Beta in the next couple of months!

We may have been silent for the past couple of months, still, we have been hard at work with your adventure books and we are happy to be sharing that the Salt, Storm & Steel Beta will be coming up very soon, somewhere around late May to early June!

Not only our writers, as mentioned above, but also our artists and sculptors are working hard to create the best Voidsea art and final miniatures that you can imagine. Today we are stoked to share a first sneak peek of some of the art that you will be finding in your books, without further ado, here it is, enjoy!

Getting Access to the First Voidsea Beta!
In order to get access to the first (and any future) Beta, you first need to finish your Backerkit survey. Once your survey is finished, it must be locked: something we do once a week on Thursdays, but since the beta just came out, we will be locking orders once a day for the next few days to make sure everyone has access to it.
Once your order is locked, you can access the beta directly through Backerkit! Make sure to log in to Backerkit using the same email as your Kickstarter account, then go to Your Pledges & Surveys > Your Surveys > Voidsea > Get My Digital Rewards. The beta will be there, waiting for you!
What You Will Find in the Beta:
Like we've mentioned, this first Beta will focus on non-stretch goal player options. It will include playable Species like the Pengkin or the Carapacean, Subclasses like the Angler Fighter or Siren Soul Sorcerer, many Origin and Species Feats, Magic Items, and a couple Monsters to boot.
Not only that, but it will include the most recent version of the Naval Combat System, as well as a first look on the Mutation Mayhem System!
As always, remember this is the first Beta: not all content is present yet, and none of the content is final. If you find something absolutely broken or just not very fun, you can find a Feedback Form in the PDF that will let you share your thoughts and help make the book better! And if you want to share your experiences playtesting it all, make sure to visit Loot Tavern's Discord (Loot Tavern Discord Server here) as well!

Clarification on Deluxe Bundles and Slipcases
When we launched our Backerkit surveys last month, some of you correctly pointed out that there was a conflicting piece of important information regarding the Deluxe Bundles, and whether it included the Slipcase or not.
That was an error on our end: in the Rewards section of the Kickstarter page, we erroneously included the Slipcase amongst the items included in the Deluxe Bundle, while the item's description, pledge breakdown, and the tier presentation all ommited it.
Since this was a mistake on our end, we're more than happy to provide the Slipcase to anyone that got the Deluxe Bundle, even if originally it wasn't meant to be included in that tier! We once again apologize for the confusion, and hope this decision is beneficial to everyone.

Backerkit Surveys are out!

Ahoy, brave Sailors on the VoidSea!
We hope this update finds you well. Now that smoke tests are done, we're readying ourselves for the release of your Backerkit Surveys, so brace for impact!
Backerkit Surveys are Already Live!
We've run the smoke tests and confirmed everything was working as intended last week, so it's time to press the big red button! The Backerkit Surveys for Voidsea will start coming out today, and will be released in waves! If you haven't received your survey in a week from now, please reach out to Backerkit Support or to us directly (See below section about needing assistance).
A Warning to Apple Pay Users. If you have the feature that hides your email turned on, you will not get a survey, as it will be directed to a temporary apple email instead. If that's the case for you, please reach out to Backerkit directly: they'll need your correct email to manually send your Survey to!
What YOU need to do!
Within the next few days, you will receive an email from Backerkit, if you haven't received it already. The email will include a link, which will take you directly to the Backerkit Survey.
If you haven't received your survey, or can't find it in your email, you can always log in to Backerkit yourself using the same email as your Kickstarter account (make an account using that email if you don't have one already). From there, you can select your profile, then go to Your Pledges & Surveys > Your Surveys > Voidsea to find the survey yourself.
From there, you'll get to answer your survey as usual. It's important to remember that these surveys are extremely important. That's where you'll fill in your shipping information, choose your VTTs and Adventure Bundles, and where you'll get to upgrade your order before they get locked.
You will have until physical fulfillment begins to fulfill these surveys, but remember: you won't be able to access any of your rewards until the survey is completed.
Additionally, if you were not a backer on Kickstarter and want to jump in on VoidSea. now is the time! You can use thepre-order store link here!
Upgrades for all!
The first thing you'll get to do in your survey will be upgrading your pledge. This means being able to upgrade to a different tier, or add extra Add-Ons to your order.
All you need to do is choose the "or Switch your Pledge level" option in the very first screen of the survey. This will let you use already pledged funds from Kickstarter and allocate them to a new tier, or add more funds to upgrade your order further!

Like we mentioned in the previous update, these surveys are also where you'll get the option to upgrade your Hardcovers into Deluxe Covers! Depending on which books are included in your order, you'll get the option to upgrade either hardcover books into their Deluxe version individually, or as a pair!
You'll also get to add any Add-Ons you want to your order (including entire new pledge tiers if you so desire), as well as select your VTT or Adventure Bundle of your choice if your order includes it!
Deluxe Books Time?!
These surveys are detailed, pretty straightforward and self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via a KS message, email or through Discord!
Locking Orders, Payment Information and Shipping
Currently, we are giving everyone time to finish their surveys and make any changes to their orders. Starting with January 29th, we will start locking orders. This is because your order must be locked for you to get access to any digital products, including the Voidsea Beta PDF coming out around that time!
If you haven't filled out your survey, or you don't have sufficient funds in your account, don't worry. You'll have until shipping begins (estimated for March 2027 as of right now) to resolve it, but remember: you won't be able to access any of your rewards until the survey is completed.
After the 29th, we will be locking orders every Thursday. This means any finalized surveys that haven't yet been locked will have their cards charged for any outstanding costs, and these orders will be granted access to any digital rewards already available. This is so we have a consistent time when things are charged, and so nobody gets jumpscared by an unexpected charge due to the survey!
As a final reminder, any shipping and tax charges will be coming up later down the line. Things are very unstable right now when it comes to international shipping, so we'd rather wait until we're closer to the project's shipping phase before commiting to charging you guys! We'll make sure to keep everyone updated about that, and when the time comes to charge for those!

Ahoy, brave Sailors on the VoidSea!
We all hope you had an amazing holiday season and a happy New Year, and we hope you're ready for an even more exciting 2026, filled with lots of nautical travel and pirate adventures!
AAAAARRRRRRREE YOUUUU REAAADYYYYY???!
We'd like to use the beginning of this update to sincerely apologize for the gap in our communication these past few weeks. This is the first time any of us use the Pledge Over Time feature on Kickstarter, and we hadn't realize how much this would extend the process of receiving the campaign funds, and how it would impact the launch of our Pledge Manager. We should've communicated these delays more clearly, but with Black Friday and the holidays season coming right after the end of the campaign to mess our schedules even further, we failed to pass that information down to you guys.
From now on, we intend on releasing monthly updates to keep you all in the know. If you have a more urgent question, you'll still be able to contact us quite efficiently through Kickstarter messages, emails, or through our Discord servers, as always.
Still, we've got a lot to talk about today. We'd like to share some news on when the first beta for Voidsea will be coming out, share some development art for Salt, Steel, and Storm, and explain to everyone how the Pledge Manager Surveys will be sent out.
First Beta's Release Date
We know everyone is eagerly waiting for the first round of betas to come out, so we want to update everyone on that.
The first beta PDF for Voidsea will come out in late February. It focuses on non-stretch goal player options, but still includes a few extra bits of content for DMs! That includes:
The Naval Combat system
All non-stretch goal species
All non-stretch goal subclasses
A batch of monsters for you to fight
Once we're done with Voidsea's beta, we'll start working on the final details for the first Salt, Steel, and Storm beta. We still don't have a schedule date for its release, but it will focus on the Abyssodon + Hivebloom kaiju fights, as well as their respective crews!

Backerkit Surveys Coming Up Very Soon!
What are Backerkit Surveys?
Our Pledge Manager for this project will be Backerkit. This is a website where you'll be able to see your pledge, and download any digital rewards we release, including the beta PDFs! To do that, however, you'll need to answer your Backerkit Survey.
This survey is really important. This is where you'll enter your shipping information so we can calculate your shipping costs, where you'll choose your VTT or Adventure Bundle (if your order included either of them), where you can upgrade your book covers to their Deluxe versions, and where you'll be able to either upgrade your pledge to a higher tier or pick any Add-Ons you missed during the Kickstarter campaign.
If your Kickstarter Pledge didn't go through fully, the Survey is also where you can update your payment information for the project. This is also really useful if you're upgrading your pledge, as well as for shipping costs (which will be charged at a later date see Shipping, Taxes and addresses section below.)!
Once your Backerkit Survey is fully complete, we will manually lock your order (meaning you won't be able to edit it yourself), and you'll get access to any digital rewards already released through Backerkit. If you can't answer the survey right now, don't worry! You can wait until a few weeks before we start shipping things, but you won't get access to digital rewards until you answer it.
If you're afraid of not being able to edit your pledge, don't worry about that either! You can always contact us about updating your pledge via Kickstarter DMs, email, or via our Discord server!
Smoke tests are out!
Just a bit before posting the update, we sent out a few "smoke tests". This is where we send the Backerkit Surveys to a very small number of random backers, making sure everything is working as intended before we send it to the masses.
If you haven't received anything yet, that's not a problem at all! It just means you didn't get chosen for the smoke test. Once we can guarantee the survey is working as intended, we'll release the survey to everyone else!
Once you get your Backerkit Survey, you'll get the option to upgrade your book's covers to their Deluxe version! In addition, if your order includes both Deluxe Covers AND the Artbook, you will get the option to add a special Slipcase to keep all of them inside!

It's important to note that, due to packaging logistics, we can only provide the Slipcase if you have the Deluxe Covers for both Voidsea and Salt, Steel, and Storm. You can upgrade into the slipcase from the Library tier and above! If you have got the All-In tier or Whalerman tier, don't worry! The slipcase is already included with your order!

Additionally, if you got a tier that included one or more Adventure Bundles or VTTs of your choice, the survey is where you'll be able to select the ones you want!

Finally, you'll be able to add any additional Add-ons (or even whole pledges on top of the one you already have) you might want to your order! This includes dice sets for the dice goblins around, additional books for those looking to get both normal and Deluxe covers or getting a gift for a friend, extra character sheets for the forever DMs dreaming of being able to play, or anything else you might be craving in the moment!!

We will go over the Backerkit Pledge Manager process in much more detail in our next Kickstarter Update, once surveys are sent out to everyone!
Shipping, Taxes, and Addresses
Shipping + Taxes. With the current state of international shipping, we will not be charging for shipping and taxes until we are much closer to physical fulfillment in about a year or so. When we do charge it, we'll make sure to release a Kickstarter update letting you know ahead of time so you can plan for it.
For a breakdown of estimated shipping costs, you can always refer to the dedicated section of our Campaign's page. These values may differ in a year, as we are basing our numbers on current rates. For taxes and duties, consult your country's government information.
Addresses. Closer to the time of the actual physical fulfillment, we'll send out reminders asking you to update your addresses. This is to make sure anyone that might've moved or intends on moving to a different place doesn't get caught off guard by the shipping going to the wrong place. You won't have to worry about this until we're much closer to physical fulfillment!
